Local Restaurant Closes After 83 Years
It is a sad day when any business closes up shop. It represents the loss of jobs and, in many ways, the end of a dream. However, few businesses, especially restaurants, manage to last more than a few years. One particular Mexican restaurant in Yuma, which has been open for business since 1940, has decided to call it quits after 83 years. It represents a sad day not only for food lovers in Yuma but for the entire community.
The Mexico Viejo Bar & Grill hit the spot for a Sunday lunch
On Sunday, My Lady and I attended The Great Plains Renaissance & Scottish Festival (see what I did there, with "My Lady," Renaissance....), at Sedgwick County Park. I haven't been to a Renaissance Festival in years and this is a really good one. Jennifer and I enjoyed walking around checking out all the vendors, and the people in costume, there was swordplay, Highland games, chainmail bras, and kilts. After enjoying the sights including a Scallywag Pirate Comedy Show, the heat of the day started to make its presence felt. Passing on the temptation of smoked turkey legs and mead, we departed the festival and headed for more comfortable surroundings.

Local Restaurant Given D-Grade During Health Inspection
Another week has come and gone, which means another week of restaurants in metro Phoenix visited by the county health inspector. With the vast number of restaurants spread throughout the Valley, it is a job that never lets up, no matter the time of year or the location. Despite the overwhelming number of restaurants in the area, the majority of these restaurants do receive A grades, meaning the establishments did not have a single violation. Even violations corrected at the time of inspection are still noted and will impact a restaurant’s overall grade. So, by and large, greater Phoenix has a majority of restaurants that are perfectly safe to eat at. However, there are a handful receiving violations over the course of each week.
