McDonald's is opening a new style of restaurant with a new name. The first will open in Bolingbrook, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. It is not known at this time whether there will be locations in Florida, additional locations are planned, with Texas being mentioned. A total of 10 are expected to open by the end of the year.

A McDonald's employee in North Carolina, Sam Antwan Ivey, has been charged with second-degree murder after a woman, Jacklyn Marie Reed, was shot and killed in the restaurant. The incident occurred after an argument between two women at a nearby bus stop, with one of them entering the McDonald's followed by the other. A manager intervened and separated them, but one woman returned shortly after. Upon her return, she touched Ivey, who allegedly shot her with a concealed handgun and then fled.
