It is no secret that Orlando continues to be an extremely popular Spring Break destination for the entire country. In my opinion, it is not only the weather, but more so the abundance of things to do and the theme parks really feed into it! This is one of our favorite times to visit, even if the crowds may be a little more robust. If you are planning to visit Universal Studios there is some added fun in store for you and your whole group. This year Universal Studios is running their annual Mardi Gras celebration from February 5th to April 24th, 2022, so you haven't missed it yet.

We are trying the most viral Mardi Gras 2022 food item at Universal Studios, the bubble waffle sundae with pop rocks, ube ice cream, lucky charms marshmallows and pocky!

We highly recommend doing this experience if you have the chance. It takes about 2 hours from your park day from start to finish. They supply your throws and you don't even have to stay to clean up. This was super fun! It's a clean version of Mardi Gras!

March 1st signifies the first day of Mardi Gras and to celebrate Charleston Place held a mini parade for their staff. The parade started on Market Street and proceeded south on Meeting Street. We tried to make our own King Cake for Fat Tuesday! We found a recipe on Pinterest that was for a quick and easy version of the Cake. It took a total of about 35 minutes to make and bake it. This Saturday, February 26, Carnivale comes to Colorado! This year’s festival theme is “Mystical Manitou.” While Mardi Gras proper isn’t until March 1, the Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo cook-off starts Saturday at 11 am with tastings at 75 cents each. The gumbo cook-off is celebrating its 28th year.

When you have a sunny and warm winter day in Louisiana, you take advantage of it by spending time outside. You have about 5 minutes before summer sets in and it's too hot to do anything of the sorts like hiking around a lake surrounded by a marsh. I didn't know Lake Martin had a hiking trail on the lake levee, so we headed out one February morning to see what we could see. If you're a birder, this is a good place to see songbirds and egrets, Great Blue Herons, etc. If it's a bit warmer, you'll see alligators!
