The safest and the most affordable areas to live in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles, California is the second most populous city in the United States, behind New York City. Los Angeles is known by various nicknames. One is merely the initials of the city, L.A. Los Angeles means "the angels" in Spanish, hence it is also known as the City of Angels. La-La Land is also a nickname for Los Angeles that combines the initial letters of the words Los and Angeles. Bilbo Cemetery 1840 - Lake Charles, Louisiana
As I was staying in Lake Charles, LA. I read up on this old historic cemetery. Once I got there it seemed to be forgotten. Established April 8, 1840 Bilbo Cemetery is listed on the National Historic Registry and is the final resting place of the “Father of Lake Charles,” John Jacob Ryan. Although the cemetery appears to be slowly sinking into the lake, it houses around 20 crypts that hold the remains of war veterans dating back to the early 19th-century. There are also a few statues of children located around the cemetery, giving the entire location an extra boost of creepiness. Millennium Statue of Jesus Christ is located in Bilbo Cemetery on North Lakeshore Drive. The 15 ft. bronze statue on an 8 ft. base stands 23 ft. tall over the resting places of Lake Charles’ earliest and most famous settlers. The statue was sculpted by Janie Stine LaCroix, a descendant of Jacob Ryan, Jr., the “Father of Lake Charles,” who is buried in Bilbo.
L.A. bans homeless camps near schools as city officials approved new law
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles City Council voted 11–3 to adopt a ban on homeless encampments in public spaces within 500 feet of schools and childcare facilities. This came after demonstrations caused the council to adjourn for the second day in a row while the issue was up for discussion. This was the third and final vote on the proposal by the council.
A Week of Training for an Ultramarathon
The most common question I get about running ultras is how much I train. Depends, is always my answer. My training load depends on the race I’m training for, how healthy I am, how busy I am, and how tired I am. However, I typically run 45 miles each week at a minimum, and strength train at least twice. This week, I was three weeks out from my 100 miler and coming off big training week.
