Beto O'Rourke gains another celebrity endorsement at ACL when he brings Kacey Musgraves a beer.
Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke is no stranger to celebrity endorsements. He may have picked up a silent one at this year's Austin City Limits music festival. While onstage Sunday night in Austin, Kacey Musgraves took a break between songs and said: "Honestly, I could use a drink. Is there any beer or anything out there?"
‘Elvis’ doesn’t add much to the King’s life story, except Austin Butler
Austin Butler (left) and Elvis Presley (right) are pictured.(Via Wikimedia Commons) “Elvis” (2022) is, in a word, captivating. From his impoverished childhood in rural Mississippi where he discovered music, his adolescence in Memphis where he frequented Beale Street to his rise to stardom and subsequent crash and burn, “Elvis” takes us through the whole Elvis Presley story, but doesn’t add much to it. Baz Luhrmann, the famed director of “The Great Gatsby” (2013) and “Moulin Rouge!” (2001), takes a whopping two hours and 39 minutes to tell us what could have mostly been gleaned from a five-minute skim of Presley’s Wikipedia page. Luhrmann does add color here and there, and it’s still a highly enjoyable watch — mainly for Austin Butler’s performance as Presley, an excellent soundtrack and fantastic period costumes — but ultimately, “Elvis” falls short in expanding on the star’s life.
Kacey Mugraves brings the cinematic ‘star-crossed: unveiled’ tour to Boston
The Boston leg of Kacey Musgraves’ “star-crossed: unveiled” tour went off without a hitch as soon as Musgraves took center-stage at TD Garden on Jan. 27. With Muna and King Princess as opening acts, the bar was set high for Musgraves. Muna‘s opening set included well-known hits such as “Stayaway” (2019) and “Silk Chiffon” (2021). Katie Gavin, the lead singer of the act, performed phenomenally, often vocally outdoing the studio version of tracks. Soon to follow was King Princess. Equally captivating, King Princess also performed their greatest hits including “Talia” (2018) and “1950” (2018) as well as unreleased tracks from their upcoming album, such as “For My Friends” and “Let Us Die.”
