Nigiri sushi, ankimo and soft shell crab at Oku
A waterfront restaurant, Oku serves the freshest and finest ingredients in town. We had nigiri sushi - otoro (tuna belly) hon maguro (blue fin tuna), kanpachi (yellow tail), uni (sea urchin) and hotate (Japanese scallop) along with ankimo (monkfish liver), oysters with yozu zest, soft shell crab and wazowski roll. The drinks, Santa Barbara sling and oku pog. Kampai!
Delicious & Affordable Sushi at "Hot Woks Cool Sushi" Restaurant
This video is my 15th installment of my mini-series on "Millennium Park" in Chicago. Here I discuss one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city called "Hot Woks Cool Sushi", which is coincidentally right across the street from Millennium Park. They have a wide variety of Pan-Asian cuisine, but their vegan sushi is the pinnacle of what they have to offer. I highly recommend the "Mega Vega" roll - you won't regret it. Nigiri sushi at Oomasa
Back in Little Tokyo for nigiri sushi lunch at Restaurant Oomasa. We had the usual - blue fin tuna, chūtoro, scallops with yuzu, red snapper with yuzu, Spanish mackerel in ponzu sauce, yellow tail belly, monkfish liver sashimi, fried ika geso/fried squid legs. Oishi!

Japanese soul food
Here at our favorite Japanese soul food restaurant. They serve delicious meals that are typically prepared or cooked in a Japanese home. On the table: garlic baby squid, fried tofu/agedashi and deep-fried oysters for appetizer. I had seared albacore poki bowl with hijiki seaweed rice and tea, Josh had karaage and ramune, husband had daimyo chirashi and sake. Oishi!
Japanese soul food at Daichan
Been coming to this restaurant for about 15 years now. This is one of my favorite lunch spots when I used to work in the area. Daichan serves Japanese soul food/home-style Japanese comfort food in Studio City. A popular dish on the menu is the poki bowl. They've been serving poki bowl long before this dish became popular and poki bars started sprouting all over Los Angeles.
