Columbus, OH – On June 1, 2023, Evan Jones, a fugitive with an outstanding arrest warrant from Franklin County, Ohio, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals in the Southern District of Texas. In addition, Jones had a supervised release violation arrest warrant from the United States District Court in the Southern District of Ohio. The Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit had been searching for Jones for the crime of murder.

Leidy Areli Hernandez Lopez, a 41-year-old woman residing illegally in Houston, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud. This announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani. Lopez was involved in a scheme where she, along with others based in the Southern District of Texas and other locations, bought and sold thousands of counterfeit Texas-issued temporary buyer tags. None of these tags were issued for legitimate vehicle purchases, and some were even used for cars outside of Texas.

A 24-year-old resident of Pasadena has been sentenced to federal prison for his involvement in the shooting of a Houston Police Department officer. The Drug Enforcement Administration's Houston Division Special Agent in Charge, Daniel C. Comeaux, and U.S. Alamdar S. Hamdani made the announcement regarding the individual's conviction on firearm and drug trafficking charges.

Attorney General Paxton’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit secured a prison sentence for two Houston nurses who were paying kickbacks to marketers, patients, and a physician. Joseph Nwankwo, aged 59, residing in Houston, and Stacey Ajaja, aged 51, residing in Richmond, were found guilty of a conspiracy to defraud the United States and participating in the unlawful receipt and payment of healthcare kickbacks. As per the court's ruling, Nwankwo will serve a 36-month prison sentence, and Ajaja will serve a 14-month term. Following their release from prison, both individuals will have to go through three years of supervised release. Nwankwo has also been ordered to pay $1,218,615 to Medicare as restitution, while Ajaja must pay $238,164.

Abilene Animal Outreach has issued a warning for residents living in the vicinity of US-277 South and Autumn Sage Lane, stating that a skunk in the 6600 block of Autumn Sage Lane has tested positive for rabies. The organization received notification of the skunk's positive result on April 21, 2023. Rabies is a lethal virus that affects the central nervous system and is spread through the saliva of infected animals, usually through a bite. Rabies infection is only treatable through a series of shots administered by a healthcare professional, and those who may have contracted the virus must seek immediate medical attention as the virus may be incurable once symptoms appear.

On April 24, 2023, a suspect was arrested and charged in connection to a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) at around 1:15 a.m. on April 22.

On April 4th, 2023, at around midnight, the Houston Police Department received a 911 call of a man who was fatally shot in the 4700 block of Scott Street in Houston. The victim was a 43 year old man, per police reports.

A Suspect is now in custody after taking a 17-year-old hostage, stealing the hostages vehicle, and leading Houston Police Department on a high speed pursuit. Sunday just before 11AM, the Houston Police Department received a 911 call from a 17-year-old being held hostage by a wanted Johnson County murder suspect. Houston Officers responded, locating the vehicle by tracking the cellphone used to make the phone call.
