Might look ridiculous, but it worked this time. “Tanging” (banging pots and pans together) is said to confuse the bees enough to make them regroup before flying to some distant location.

Because the rain has made it difficult to work the bees, I’ve had several swarms this year. This one I found in a tree, not far from the parent hive.

We work hard to care for our bees but sometimes winters can be tough on a hive and they may not survive the harsh elements! That was the case for the Lilac Hive. Even though I’m disappointed and feel the sting of loss with this dead out we are going to learn from this experience and use it to better ourselves.

With a proper lure and hive box, catching wild swarms is a lot like fishing. The more boxes you have out there, the more likely it is that you’ll catch ‘em !
