Navigating Yosemite Village
In Today's Kim's Adventure we woke up bright and early to head off to Yosemite Village in Yosemite National Park. First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. The geology of the Yosemite is characterized by its iconic granite rocks, which were cut and sculpted by melting ancient glaciers. These formed deep narrow canyons and steep riverbeds that characterizes the Yosemite we know of today. The Park draws about four million visitors each year, and most of them spend the majority of their time in the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. But be prepared, the park began requiring reservations during peak periods starting in 2020 as a response to the rise in visitors.

Reservations can be made online at reservecalifornia.com from March 1 through November 30 for a maximum of 7 days. Or December 1 through February 28 for a maximum of 15 consecutive days. Expect to pay about $45 per night and make sure you book early as spots fill up quickly.
