Although I had two mothers and two fathers, my biological set and my adoptive set, I didn't feel either of them deserved hearing a wish let alone receiving a gift. But I played the role anyway, telling myself that I could fake my love for them for at least one day.

Her feast day was marked by fertility rites and the giving of eggs, which represented new life. It is thought that Ēostre was eventually absorbed into the Christian tradition, and her name was given to the Easter holiday. Some believe that the Easter bunny is also a remnant of Ēostre's worship, as she was often depicted with rabbits or hares. While we may not know everything about this ancient goddess, her legacy can still be seen in modern Easter celebrations!

(Aurora, Colo.) The Aurora City Council voted Monday to make Juneteenth a paid holiday for its workers. But the council also took a paid holiday away. Employees no longer will get the day after Thanksgiving off with pay. Several council members said recognizing Juneteenth is critical, but they did not want to give employees an eleventh paid day off.

We haven't wanted to venture too far from home with the pandemic still running rampant. But heading into the third year of lockdowns, masks, avoiding crowds, and being cooped up at home with two small children, we decided it was time to find a mini holiday that's not too far away and not in a busy city location.

This past holiday season, we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Christmas Town. I’d visited Busch Gardens a couple of times as a teenager, but I’d never taken my own children there.

255 items. That’s the number of items my boyfriend and I have decluttered since Christmas. At the very least, 15 of those items were Christmas presents. It’s okay to get rid of gifts. They’re gifts! Gifts are supposed to bring you happiness. At the very least, they should be useful. If they aren’t serving either of those purposes, you can (and should!) remove them from your home.

Definitely a must-see during the holidays ❄️ Bookmark it for the holidays this year! This year, I want to work on being more mindful about how I am spending my time. It’s not about becoming more efficient but more about being wiser on HOW I’m spending my time. After the last two years, the holidays may be something that most people are looking forward to. However, for some, this is a time where they are reflecting on how much their lives have changed. Many people have lost a loved one in the last two years, and several others have lost their jobs. This can create bad feelings for a time that is supposed to be full of happiness and joy.

The holiday season is my favorite time to visit Disneyland. It’s the most magical time to visit and extra festive everywhere. But since moving away, I haven’t been back since. A lot has changed with the new Star Wars land and Avengers campus so I was especially excited to go this year! Even though my mission of the day was to explore Star Wars land, it’s always a “must” to go on the classic rides. They just never get old. One thing I didn't particularly enjoyed was how we had to order most of the food through the Disney app. I actually lost my phone at one point that day so it was annoying when it came to picking up our food. With Disney’s new system, you first have to order food ahead of time in your desired timeframe in the app, second let them know that you were close by, then finally they’ll notify you within the app that your order is ready for pick up. Some places also didn’t have clear signage for mobile order pick up so it was all a bit confusing.
