# Goals
Daydreams are the motivation of the soul.
Woman Daydreaming(LoveThisPic - free usage) I’m a writer. I’ll say it - I write some weird stuff. Dark humor tales of children dying in obscure ways (thanks Edward Gorey!), thrilling tales of the supernatural, the esoteric, the dark, the ludicrous, ridiculous, and farcical. My writing has won multiple awards and without fail, readers either love it or hate it, but they never forget it.
All About Discipline
My elementary school band teacher hung a poster in his classroom that read: “Don’t make excuses, make improvements.” Whenever someone messed up, needed correction, talked out of turn, etc, he would reprimand us, as any teacher would. And as any teacher knows, sometimes kids push back if they feel they’re being unfairly punished. When one of us pushed back, he’d simply point to the poster and say, “Don’t make excuses, make improvements!” This was maddening, but he was right.

The Psychology of Staying Motivated
Fitness routines evolve as goals change throughout life. Some people strive for their idea of a perfect perfect beach body or to fit into their high school jeans. Others want to become stronger and more flexible. Then, there are those who want to lower cholesterol and incorporate exercise to achieve a heart healthy lifestyle. No matter the objective, attaining it requires dedication.
Identifying friendships by value, not proximity
My closest friends are scattered all over the country due to my moves and life taking us in varied directions. These dear friendships bring me such joy and comfort, they will forever hold a place in my life regardless of new relationships developed. Some of these friends I speak with regularly, others have taken on more occasional connections, but each of these individual I hold in high esteem. Each of them I would drop just about anything to be by their side if they were in need.

Make a goal journal
When we make goals it’s a good idea to find a way to keep ourselves accountable and to map our progress, so a goal journal is a good tool to have. A goal journal is a spot to write down what you would like to achieve, and then allow you to tweak the goal or mark if it has been achieved. It’s fun to look back a year to year and see how our goals have changed and what we have achieved. Here are some ideas on making one work for you.
