Will North Carolinians Receive a Gas Rebate Check Soon?

Governor Roy Cooper proposed last month how North Carolina should spend the $6.2 billion surplus. Governor Cooper said the state needs to address areas such as building construction, education inequities, affordable housing, and worker retention.

Gas Prices Rise To $10 Per Gallon In California
Gas prices in California have been rapidly approaching double digits. Currently in California, you'll see prices around $9.50 per gallon at numerous Chevron stations, especially in the rural areas of Mendocino. The owner of Chevron told Fox News about the challenges of selling gas in rural parts of California, in which he claims transportation and pipeline access has made his gasoline astronomical.

According to AAA Gas Prices, the highest average-priced county in Michigan is Wayne county, at $5.13.

Gas prices continue to rise in Georgia
For the time since 2008, motorists are seeing gas prices surge across the country. Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for the OPIS, which tracks gas prices for AAA states the national average is expected to hit $5 a gallon within the next two weeks. He said, "I think we reach $5 somewhere between this weekend and Juneteenth/Father's Day weekend." Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Washington, D.C. are among the states already at $5 per gallon. Kloza goes on to say, "Anything goes from June 20 to Labor Day," and "We could certainly see the national average approach $6."

With the national average price of a gallon of unleaded gas at a record $4.86, up 25 cents from a week ago, and Arizona’s average at a record $5.13, up 18 cents from last week, according to AAA, finding the least expensive gas is increasingly expensive.
Georgia Gas Prices at All Time High – AGAIN
Gas prices across the Peach State rise to match the all-time high. Today, June 6, 2022, The AAA Weekly Fuel Report for Georgia reports that average gas prices for regular unleaded gasoline across the Peach State have reached an all-time high, tying the previous all-time high which was set in March.
AAA Warns No End in Sight for Rising Gas Prices As Florida Hits All-Time High – $4.77 per Gallon in Hillsborough County
A report from the American Automobile Association on June 6 has confirmed what Florida's drivers already knew - that gas prices are continuing to surge. The price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Florida has hit $4.76 according to the AAA, with the highest price in Florida being $4.90 per gallon in Palm Beach County.

Recently, I wrote an article talking about North Carolina has a $6.2 Billion Surplus. During this time the North Carolina General Assembly was not discussing offering relief to North Carolina drivers. Since then a group of Democratic Senators will like to use a portion of the surplus money to give to NC drivers relief at the pumps.
