They are called South American theft groups or “crime tourists.” They arrive in the United States as tourists on 90-day visa waivers, but they are not here for sightseeing.
Is it a burn day? Forsyth County residents allowed to burn vegetative debris from storms
Forsyth County residents will be allowed to burn vegetative debris caused by the July 20 storms now through Oct. 1. Permissible storm debris includes trees, brush and stumps. Other storm damage debris such as damaged housing may not be burned. The county still encourages residents to mulch or chip your debris if possible.
Forsyth County provides options for residents wanting to drop off debris from Thursday’s storm
Forsyth County Roads & Bridges crews continue to remove and chip debris that fell within county rights of way during last week’s severe weather. But residents are responsible for handling debris that fell on their private property and the county is asking that the debris not be moved onto county rights of way.

The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is calling on county residents to adopt and foster animals as the shelter nears its capacity and adoption rates have slowed. The Animal Shelter’s adoption rate has decreased about 10 percent versus last year with only 312 animals being adopted since January 2023. Currently, the shelter has over 50 dogs and 180 cats and kittens looking for new homes.

Forsyth County 5th graders set to break world record

Dr. Beth Moody’s gifted 5th grade class at Poole’s Mill Elementary led a school-wide effort to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chain of recycled paper airplanes. Every student at Poole’s Mill worked together to help achieve this goal, creating paper planes to add to the chain.
