The shortest distance from Cuba to Miami is approximately 90 miles by plane. Well, two Cuban migrants flew this distance, and it wasn’t by plane but by a motorized hang glider. The two landed safely at Key West International Airport on Saturday, March 25 at 10:30 am. They were immediately handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

The Florida Senate passed a bill that expands Governor Ron DeSantis's authority over migrants. DeSantis previously announced his plan as he gave his budget proposal which lines up with the new proposal.

On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gave his budget proposal which includes $12 million to transport undocumented migrants out of state. Last year, a similar amount was set aside but he primarily used the money to fly migrants out of Texas instead of Florida.

Since President Joe Biden announced his new immigration policy last month, about 7,500 migrants have legally entered the county. This is lower than the number of migrants who entered the country in December 2022.

Just a few weeks ago, the State of Florida was in a crisis as migrants closed down the Dry Torgus National Park close to Miami. But the crisis didn't end there are more migrants who continued to arrive this month. Last year in 2022, Florida saw 13,357 migrants arrive from two countries.

President Joe Biden is traveling to improve relations with Mexico and trying to solve the migrant crisis from the southern border. At the same time, the White House staff is criticizing the Florida governor on how he handles migrants after recent immigrants arrived in the state.
