We are getting a new laundry room!
We got started on the laundry room! It's right across the hall from the downstairs guest bathroom so the plan is to do both rooms at the same time basically. You know us! We plan to go back and forth between each room until they are done. We took down the wire shelving, broke up the tile floor, patched all the holes, and got everything ready for the next step which is the Ditra uncoupling membrane that will go under the new tile. Man this house remodeling is no joke! See ya in the next one guys!!
Let's demolish a bathroom!
We started on the downstairs guest bathroom demo! This one went a lot quicker than the upstairs bathrooms did. I guess we had some practice with those and we kind of know how to go about it. We also have all the tools needed for removing all the parts and pieces out of a bathroom. So grab a drink and come along with this as we "get it done!" See ya in the next one guys!!
What did I get from Amazon for the house?
I got a few things from Amazon for the house that I wanted to share. We needed new toilet roll holders since we took down the old ceramic ones and I found a solution on Amazon. I also bought peel and stick wallpaper for the Cinderella bathroom. I put the hubby to work with small projects that have been sitting around for a whole year! Thanks for coming along and we will see ya in the next one!
Room reveal! The Alice In Wonderland room gets new paint & other updates.
What's up everyone? In this video I get started on updating the Alice in Wonderland bedroom paint. The color we painted in when we first moved into this house just didn't flow with the other paint colors in our home. It stuck out and was very bright, so we gave it a new paint color. I also got started on Dave's man cave update. It has a new paint color and some new items. I will reveal that in our next video so keep watching! See ya in the next one!
All the new things in the bathrooms / Shower fixtures / Plumbing
In today's video we move on to changing out the fixtures in the showers from chrome silver to oil rubbed bronze. We also set the vanity tops. In the pool bath we had to take off the whole sink from the wall to get to all the plumbing because of the tight spot it made. The toilets get installed and the board & batten gets completed. It's come a long way but we still have a long way to go for the home stretch of completion.
Our pool resurfacing process in Florida
We bought our house in 2019 and knew we would have to get the pool resurfaced soon after. We started that process in 2020 and wanted to share it here on NewsBreak just in case you are curious what goes into pool resurfacing. It is one thing to consider when you are buying a home with an in ground pool. They say you should get them resurfaced every 10 to 15 years. We have never owned a home with a pool before so this was all new to us. We went with a company called The Pool Repair Guy and he did an awesome job. We are so happy with our pool and love having one. Now we say we would never buy another house without one especially here in Florida where it gets so hot.
Bedroom feature wall reveal and Red Guarding the bathrooms
In today's video I put down the waterproofing / crack prevention membrane down in the bathrooms we are renovating. You also get to see the bedroom feature wall reveal we have been working on. I scrubbed the lanai / patio and show you that too. If you live in Florida, you know that those can get really nasty really fast and we neglected ours for quite a while. It felt so good to get that all sparkling clean. Now it's ready for summer weather and pool lounging. We hope you enjoy the video.
Feature wood wall in master bedroom and got started cleaning the lanai
In today's video we got started on the feature wall in the bedroom. Dave did such a good job with this! I could not even begin to do all this math to figure out all the measurements! After he installed all the boards, I got busy prepping it for paint. I also started cleaning the back patio / lanai area.
Painting the new medicine cabinets / Daily Florida Life
In today's video it was little things here and there. I had another birthday come and go, I caulked and painted the new medicine cabinet shelving Dave installed, caulked and painted the floor molding he put down in the bathroom out by the pool, and primed and sealed the Peter pan bathroom subfloor. More boxes checked off the list! We hope you enjoy the video.
House Renovation Volume # 8
In today's video I continue to pull up all the cement board that's attached to the subfloor in the upstairs bathrooms. I get one subfloor sealed with Killz primer & do some small projects around the house. Even the small mundane projects get us closer to completion.
House Renovation Volume 7
In today's video we get a lot accomplished. Tile is all removed, discovered some unfortunate rot in one of the bathroom floors, finally hung the french doors, pool bath paint gets completed, and boy are we tired but we keep plugging along! We want to get this all done and behind us so we can go out and have fun in sunny Florida!
Paint Going Up In The Bathrooms FINALLY!
After several weeks of sheetrock repair I was finally able to apply the texture on the walls in the two bathrooms upstairs and the pool bath that we had the big hole to repair in. So that means I was finally able to paint the two baths upstairs. Now we can move on to tearing up the tile, removing the toilets, and all the things to prepare for new things. Things are moving right along! Please follow so you can see how our Florida home transforms. This has been a 3 year journey in the works and it's all finally happening!
Pool Bath Progress / Some ASMR Going On / Home Progress Updates
In today's video it was week Feb 21-25 of home upgrades. Most of it was just painting the french doors we got for Dave's man cave and preparing walls for texture to start painting. It seemed so long and drawn out to me but I guess these are all the steps you have to take before paint if you want it to look as close to professional as you can get it DIY. I scraped all the ugly baked on for 18 years film off the pool door and was so scared I was going to break the glass but thankfully that did not happen. Things are progressing right along! Hope you enjoy the video.
We Hung a Barn Door & Patching Holes Oh My!
We are moving right along with the update home mission. In this video we got the laundry room door hung. Still a few things left to do for it to fully be complete but we got it up and that's the first step. Things in the upstairs baths are progressing as well. That huge hole in the wall of the pool bath finally gets patched too! That hole has been there for 3 years!
Tearing Up Things / Home Upgrades Continued
In today's video I am still working away in the house. Seems like I make a little progress and hit setbacks but I 'm not going to let that stop me! No Siree I am going to keep struggling along until I get it all done. I am really proud of myself though for getting that cabinet out all by myself! Whooo!
Project Update Underway / Updating our Florida Home
After recently quitting my full time job to focus on opening our own business, I immediately got busy updating the house we bought in Florida 3 years ago. We did do a few things when we first moved in but with our work schedules we were not able to really focus on projects we wanted to undertake until now. Follow along as we start on this journey of updating our home!
