Police Divers Bravely Searched Gator-Infested Miami-Dade Pond After a Car Ran off the Road and Crashed Into the Water
On May 27 police divers and snipers worked together, searching a pond after a minivan crashed into it after running off the road at a Miami-Dade turnpike. The pond was known to contain alligators and so while the divers searched for the vehicle underwater in the hope of rescuing survivors of the incident, snipers watched through their rifle-scopes in case gators took an interest.

Late in the evening of May 19, Deputies from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office risked their own lives and personal safety, racing to the rescue of a child trapped in a burning building. The boy, named as Owen Ares aged 9, remained trapped in the house, from which his parents had already escaped.

Those in high stress jobs,such as first responders, are often in need of ways to decompress at the end of the day, especially when the day involves potentially traumatizing events. First responders are often exposed to long term or repeated stressors and trauma, which increases the risk of occupational stress injury. These injuries include psychological and physical problems that negatively impact their life, including PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
Aurora considers $2,000 bonuses for 911 workers
(Aurora, Colo.) Aurora City Council will decide Monday whether to give Aurora 911/public safety communications staff $2,000 retention bonuses. The money would come from American Rescue Plan Act funds. The city can spend the money for first responder bonuses.

Bystander Rescues 3 Children From Icy Pond, Police Bring One Back to Life Using CPR
A 23-year-old bystander rescued three children after they fell into an icy pond. Four children, between the ages of four and eleven years old, were playing on an icy pond in Colorado earlier this week when the ice cracked and they fell into the ice-cold waters. That's when Dusti Talavera was watching from her bedroom window, ran downstairs, and ran to the pond to rescue the children before falling in herself.
