Legendary Musician Who Played Alongside the Likes of Elton John, Dolly Parton, and Stevie Nicks Dies
THE LEAD: There is sad news out of the music industry this week after it was announced that prolific bassist and Nashville music icon Michael Rhodes, a session musician who played alongside music legends such as Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, George Strait, and Elton John among many others, has died at the age of 69.
The Man Who "is" Elton John in Philadelphia Freedom Tribute Band is One of Wilkes-Barre's Own
The band will play to a sold-out crowd on February 18 at the F.M. Kirby Center. Doug Delescavage has been an Elton John fan his entire life. Now, he heads the band Philadelphia Freedom, an Elton John tribute band that is currently touring. Like Doug, most of the other members of the band are from the Wilkes-Barre area.
Elton John will end his musical career in 2023
The British music icon is about to end the Rocketman retirement tour in 2023, and probably also his music career, which lasted for more than sixty years. The "old school" of one-of-a-kind artists and music geniuses is slowly disappearing, and someone of the caliber of Sir Elton John is worth more than one standing ovation.
