People throughout the commonwealth can expect to continue receiving their emergency SNAP benefits throughout April 2022. The agency that governs this benefit, the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS), made this announcement exactly one week before April 16, 2022, which is the date benefits are loaded onto SNAP benefit holders' cards.

Governor Larry Hogan announced on Tuesday that his fiscal year 2023 budget will also expand the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) support for low-income families.
