Denver Restaurant Review: Recess by FieldTrip
If you want to catch some vibes, there's a new kid on the Denver block: Recess. This is a Hawaiian themed bar and restaurant that just opened up. They have fun drinks and spam musubi! They have other Hawaiian inspired eats on their menu. If you're looking for a fun, young crowd, check this place out!
Denver Restaurant Review: Temaki Den
Temaki Den at the Source Hotel was founded by Toshi Kizaki who is also the chef and owner of the iconic Sushi Den in Denver. Overall, we really enjoyed it although it as a bit confusing as they had presented their regular menu without any mention of their specials until we asked. Pretty much everything we ordered was off of the specials menu. We paired the sushi with Wakatake Sake which is a beautiful combination and we also enjoyed some craft cocktails and a 12 year whiskey. It's definitely worth checking out. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think! Follow me on IG: @candiesdeezyliu for more restaurant reviews, recipes, and behind the scenes food adventures!
Denver Restaurant Review: Maine Shack
FINALLY got to check out Maine Shack in Denver, CO! It has been on my list for a few years, I think. I got the "Maine Shack" lobster roll: mayo, sea water, drizzled butter. It was AWESOME, I loved the "sea water" aspect to it, very unique. I wasn't a fan of the Lobster Mac 'n' Cheese, it lacked flavor and the cheese was grainy. It wasn't worth the $15. Overall: It was good but I thought it was a little pricey. Would definitely go back for that Maine Shack and there were a few other things I wanted to try. Like, share, comment, and try it for yourself! Let me know what you think!

Denver Restaurant Review: Lucis Shambles & Provisions
There's a hidden cocktail lounge that just opened called Luci's Shambles & Provisions. Luci is short for Lucifer and as you can guess, it's a "Live Deliciously" themed bar that represents the man himself, the Angel of Darkness. They have unique, perfectly crafted cocktails and a nice menu. I also really enjoyed their selection of wines. I love the ambiance and it's definitely a vibey place. There's nothing like this in Denver and it's a great place to meet with friends. "And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
Denver Restaurant Review: Bao Brewhouse
Date night at Bao Brewhouse in Denver, Colorado! It's a hip, buzzy bi-level restaurant and bar serving regional Chinese fare in a funky bar & a themed dining room. Such a cute place and the decor is nothing like Denver has seen. We sat in the "tap room" where the vibes and service is just like in the market streets of China, or your favorite local brewery. Neons, graffiti murals, and a floating dragon are what you see as you are sitting in this lively setting.
Denver Review: Williams & Graham Speakeasy
Williams & Graham is a bar hidden in a book store. It has been on my list for YEARS and nearly impossible to get in without reservations. By some grace of the Universe, we were able to get in while we were in the area checking out another bar/restaurant. I'm so glad we took the chance and tried. The bar has some mysterious speakeasy vibes and the bartenders are incredibly talented mixologists. We had about 5 rounds with a combination of "dealer's choice" and cocktails from the menu. We also ordered the bone marrow which was spectacular. I cannot wait to go back and try more things! Like, share, comment, and let me know what you think! Denver Restaurant Review: Modis in the City
We tried the new Modis in the City restaurant in Denver and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Defining themselves as Colorado contemporary cuisine, their menu is a nice curation of all things that with an elegant twist. They have a big selection of perfectly crafted cocktails and wines. I really appreciated how unique and balanced each of their cocktails are. Their Smoked Old Fashioned was one of the best I have ever had. And the Wu Me was my favorite! It has Blackberry liquor, Yuzu juice, Szechuan syrup, and Chinese five spice bitters. What a combo! I wasn't sure I would like it but it was SPECTACULAR. The Brussel Sprouts had crispy pork belly and a sauce that I couldn't get enough of. The Lamb Lollis were hands down the best lamb I've ever had anywhere! I dream about it all the time. Check out Modis in the City for yourself, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Denver Restaurant Review: Toro Easter Bottomless Brunch Edition
Toro has one of my favorite bottomless brunches in town! For Easter, they were running a SPECIAL bottomless brunch which was $75 per person and it included drinks, a raw bar with oysters and cocktail shrimp, a bloody Mary bar with all sorts of mixes and different garnishes like bacon, chamoy dipped straws, and chicken & waffle skewers! The even had a flambé station for pancakes and crepes! They also had multiple courses including blue corn tacos, ceviche, eggs Benedict, chicken enchiladas, and a final course of 3 different kinds of gourmet homemade sorbet. There was a DJ spinning some fun tunes. It was ALLLL THE VIBES!
Denver Restaurant Review: Pho 75
I have been on a quest to find the best pho basically ever since I tried it for the first time as a little kid. It is a lifelong obsession. I crave a hot, steaming, flavorful bowl of pho broth and noodles at least twice a week! It has to have the perfect combination of a broth with depth, chewy noodles that aren't overcooked, and a nice heap of fresh tendon, tripe, and rare steak. I also pay attention to how clean the restaurant is. Don't get me wrong, it's often that you can find a good, authentic bowl in a hole in the wall but I really don't want to be grossed out while eating my food. Pho 75 in Aurora was decent and I would totally go back. And so my quest continues... Stay tuned! Try it for yourself, let me know what you think! As always, please like, share and comment! Have a place you want me to try? Drop it in the comments.
Denver Restaurant Review: Welton Room
The Welton Room is one of my favorite places for date night or to go with a group of friends. It really is a great spot for so many occasions. This is one of the most unique and entertaining bars in Denver! I really appreciate their customer service and table-side cocktails that bring such a unique and interactive experience. I also really enjoyed their small but mighty menu and loved the charcuterie board and bacon wrapped dates. This is a RESERVATIONS ONLY bar and you have to text 720-447-9502 to secure a spot. You need to check this place out for yourself! Please like, share, and comment with where you'd like to see me review next! I'm also open to doing food challenges.
Restaurant Review: Gyu-Kaku
We stumbled upon Gyu-Kaku while we were waiting to go to the airport in Austin to fly back home. We had already been eating all day but needed to kill time so we did what we do best - EAT MORE FOOD! Eat, drink, and be merry! I've never had Japanese BBQ before so I'm glad we tried it. We got a multi-course meal with different kinds of meat. I always get takoyaki whenever I see it on the menu and theirs was pretty good. I LOVED the broccoli and cheddar that you throw on the grill and the meats were pretty good. I wish they had better and more creative drinks but when in doubt, Jameson comes in pretty clutch! Good vibes, and it's fun to cook your own meals on the tabletop fire. They do have a couple of locations in Denver as well, which I wasn't aware of until we went. Overall, I would rate it 3 out of 5. I prefer Korean BBQ but I'd go again.
Denver Eats - We Ate at the Tivoli Brewery aka Bad Daddy's Restaurant
In 2012, the Tivoli Brewery was revived in the large gorgeous building on the edge of the Auraria Campus in Denver. Which is also the Auraria Campus Student Union. But don’t let that stop you from coming to Tivoli Brewery. We didn’t. And we were pleasantly surprised to find all age groups enjoying this great brewery and Bad Daddy’s restaurant.
Korean BBQ in Denver - Dae Gee Korean BBQ on Colorado Blvd.
We love Korean BBQ. We found Dae Gee Korean BBQ on Colorado Blvd. A wonderful Colorado chain with locations in Fort Collins, Westminster, and Denver. We tried the Colorado Blvd. restaurant for lunch. It was out of this world. Even Guy Fieri thought so when he ate there too. #DenverReview
