Seaworld Christmas Celebration in San Diego
In Today's Kim's Adventure we're at Seaworld Christmas Celebration San Diego. Opened in 1964, Sea World was originally a 21-acre park with a sea lion and dolphin exhibit. Fortunately, 1964 was a great year to open a theme park with dolphins, as the television show Flipper debuted that fall. Sea World became a publicly traded company in 1968 which allowed the park to invest in expansion. They opened a second and third location in Ohio and Orlando in the 1970's. Shamu, the third orca ever captured, came to the park in December 1965. Shamu died in 1971, but her name continues to be used as the stage name for all of the theme park chain's orcas around the country. In 1989 Anheuser-Busch purchased the Sea World Parks. Under Busch, SeaWorld San Diego continued to grow, adding rides and updating the animals exhibits every few years. They also owned the theme park rights to Sesame Street which allowed SeaWorld to open its Sesame Street Bay of Play in 2008. It changed hands one final time .

Awesome Time at Calico Ghost Town Christmas Festival
In Today's Kim's Adventure We're at the Calico Ghost Town Christmas Festival. Located right off the Interstate 15 in Yermo California. There are giant letters spelling out "Calico" inviting visitors to the site The town itself dates back to 1881 when it was a silver mining operation. The town was named after the color of the mountain peaks just above. Within a few short years there were mines dotting the whole hillside with over a thousand people residing there. But when the price of silver crashed, Calico was abandoned and quickly turned into a ghost town. In 1954, Walter Knott's of Knott's Berry Farm fame acquired the property with the intention of restoring it back to it's former glory. The idea was to market the Calico Ghost Town as a theme park, but for whatever reason, he sold it to San Bernardino County in 1966. Today, calico operates as a regional park that offers camping, outdoor activities and of course access to the ghost town. But what brings the Kim's here is for t

Beautiful Urban Waterfall Everyone Has to Visit
I wish I took more pictures/video but at the same time it was a much needed time to be present with our kids. It's every 3rd Tuesday of the month. Just grab your free tickets on their website. A little tip if you are far from the arboretum... leave the house after 9am traffic is lighter and leave the arboretum by 2pm before LA traffic begins.

Most Beautiful Beach in California, Carmel River State Beach
We made a stop at Carmel by the sea and discovered this hidden gem. Who knew Carmel Beach was crystal clear. One of the cleanest beach we have been to like it has never been touched. On the other side of the beach is the river. We see a lot of people with their tube and paddle board on the river. The water is not crystal clear...its brown and there are lots of birds and vegetation to observe. We learned recently when we were doing a swamp tour that brown water is good for you. So if you have a cut just wash it in brown water and it will heal quickly. It's also good for the garden...I guess you can think of it as compost tea. Parking lot is small but luckily someone left and we were able to find parking. There is bathroom but no washing area.
Take A Day Trip From Portland to the Oregon Coast
One of my top recommended things to do when visiting Portland is take a day trip to the Oregon coast! The scenery there and the vibe is totally different with rugged sea stacks, cliffs, grey skies, rainforests, and wide beaches. There is so much beauty there and you can even spend a few nights to really soak it all in!
