Have you ever seen a guinea hen up close?
Good morning and welcome back to the farm! Today's video is up close and personal with a guinea hen flock. These guinea hens come originally from Africa!. You'll notice they're bluish black spotted feathers, and they're weird funny little head that looks like a helmet. They are the Watch dogs of the farm, most of their diet includes insects including, most importantly, ticks. They will alert us when there's somebody coming down the driveway, or if there's a stray leaf blowing in the wind!

Chickens will always obliterate this one treat
Hello and welcome back to the homestead. Today the chickens get a treat of fresh local corn that's grown right here. As you can see by the video, the chickens absolutely love fresh corn. They eat it so vigorously that it splashes the camera and everybody around them. Sweet Summer corn is going out with the season, but we feed it as often as we can to give them a little taste of summer!

Have coffee with us and our free range baby chickens!
CUTE baby chicks (and guinea keets!) venture out into the world for the first time. These chickens and guineas will be free ranging, allowed to go where ever they please on our 20 acres of field and forests. Watch them take their first steps outside into the sunshine! Why did we move from our nice warm life in Florida to start a homesteading journey across the country in very cold Upstate New York? Because our old life was bad for us. Share with us the journey of learning with grace. This will be homesteading for beginners, vlog style like other homesteading channels. We will be growing food for our family, as debt free life as we can, getting ourselves out of the rat race as fast and as best we can. This means being present in our lives, in our food, in our choices for responsible permaculture and land stewardship. Check out our YouTube channel for more!
