Humanity Has Power To Create
The power to create things is one of the most important capabilities that human beings possess. So many people have produced or constructed things that I've heard and read about. Human beings invented the fashionable clothes we wear, the medical facilities we use, and the automobiles we drive among other things.
Using fear to propel rather than paralyze
Have you ever heard the 'false evidence appearing real' acronym to describe fear? According to Oxford Languages, the actual definition of fear is " an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. This acronym then discounts the legitimacy of our emotions by defining them as false.
Creativity & Anxiety
People have swung around the idea for a long time that art is a privilege; that rich kids have a sort of leg up in the world of creativity because they don’t have to worry about living. Their needs are met and, when given the choice to do whatever they want, they often want to do art. It’s compelling and a bit sad all at once. I’m pretty sure nobody dreams of growing up and being an accountant, or of driving an hour to work each day just to sit in a grey cubicle, or of earning a paltry salary in the name of making someone else exorbitantly rich, but I digress.
Making wise decisions.
The old suit of clothes, and the old bonnet and dress, will answer for another season; the Croton or spring water taste better than champagne; a cold bath and a brisk walk will prove more exhilarating than a ride in the finest coach; a social chat, an evening’s reading in the family circle, or an hour’s play of “hunt the slipper” and “blind man’s buff” will be far more pleasant than a fifty or five hundred dollar party, when the reflection on the difference in cost is indulged in by those who begin to know the pleasures of saving. Thousands of men are kept poor, and tens of thousands are made so after they have acquired quite sufficient to support them well through life, in consequence of laying their plans of living on too broad a platform. Some families spend as much as twenty thousand dollars per annum, and some much more, and would scarcely know how to live on less, while others secure more solid enjoyment frequently on a twentieth part of that amount.
5 Classic Books That Never Get Old
An homage to classic literature that can stand the test of time. Book genres can be pretty subjective. To some, American Psycho is an unadulterated horror; to others, it’s a simple dark comedy. Cloud Atlas encompasses about 10 different genres, from spy thriller to historical naval tale to terrifying dystopian fiction.
Creatives Are a Little Messy In Our Living Spaces
We want to live in our imaginations where dishes and laundry don’t exist, but we still need to get stuff done…. At least I know I do. I want to live in my imagination — LALA land. It’s so much more fun than in the real world most of the time. I don’t want the drudgery of peeling the kiwi or cooking dinner or scrubbing the toilet or folding the laundry. I definitely don’t want to make decisions about what to keep, what to trash, and what to pass on. Although I’ve used Marie Kondo’s spark joy method, it doesn’t work for my day-to-day living.
