The quake, which originated deep beneath the ocean floor at a depth of 53.5 kilometers or 33.24 miles, highlighted the ever-present seismic activity in this part of the world.

MISSOULA — A Heron resident, who was found guilty of unlawfully abducting his child and fleeing to Costa Rica in direct violation of a court-ordered parenting agreement, has been sentenced to three years in prison. Following his incarceration, he will be subject to one year of supervised release. U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich confirmed the sentencing today.

As part of a recent tour to Costa Rica, I visited Tortuguero National Park, a must see destination for any traveler to this beautiful country. Tortuguero, named after the famed sea turtles that nest there, is a 47,000 acre park located on the eastern Caribbean side of the country. The remote park is primarily known for the sea turtles that nest on its beaches, but also contains a vast rainforest, rivers, mangroves, and a huge variety of wildlife.
