4.8 Earthquake Strikes Off the Nicaragua/Costa Rica Coast
On August 11th, 2023, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck approximately 58 kilometers or 36 miles WSW (west-southwest) of San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, sending ripples of concern throughout the region. The quake, which originated deep beneath the ocean floor at a depth of 53.5 kilometers or 33.24 miles, highlighted the ever-present seismic activity in this part of the world.

MISSOULA — A Heron resident, who was found guilty of unlawfully abducting his child and fleeing to Costa Rica in direct violation of a court-ordered parenting agreement, has been sentenced to three years in prison. She was actually charged $29,994.33 in USD, resulting in a hold being placed on their checking account at Altura Credit Union in Riverside County.
