Georgia Music Festival Cancelled Due to Fears That Music Fans Would Bring Guns to the Event
Organizers of Atlanta's Music Midtown Festival took to Twitter on August 1 with an announcement that the event would be cancelled for 2022. In a year when many live music events were finally held once again after the global pandemic forced many events to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the news comes as a disappointment to Georgian music fans who had tickets.

On June 3, just a day after signing Florida's 'Freedom First' budget, Governor Ron DeSantis took to Twitter to declare how he'd removed $3.1 billion of unnecessary expenditure from it. Included within the items that were cut, many of which were included on a so-called 'sprinkle list' of expenditures which were included in the budget late in the budgeting process and which could be vetoed by the governor.

A recent set of TSA data reported on April 16 shows once again that two Florida airports are in the U.S. top 10 for the most handguns confiscated at TSA checkpoints. Atlanta airport in Georgia consistently tops the list, but Orlando International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are also consistently featured in the list too.
Governor Kemp Signs Constitutional Carry of Handguns Into Law in Georgia – Permits No Longer Required To Own a Gun
Georgia joins over 20 states that allow constitutional carry. On April 13, Georgia's Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed SB319 into law meaning that constitutional carry of handguns is now legal in the state. In practice it means that any qualifying person can own and carry a handgun without first applying for a permit or having to undergo training.

S.B. 319 or the “Georgia Constitutional Carry Act of 2021” and H.B. 218, a “license reciprocity measure”, were passed last month by the Georgia Senate and state House of Representatives along party lines before reaching Kemp’s desk.
