Caribou is a ghost town high in the Rocky Mountains above Boulder and Nederlands, Colorado. It is a great day trip from Boulder or Denver. There is little left there but a stone bunkhouse from it tungsten days, a log cabin, foundations, and a cemetery above the town. One of our favorite places to watch rock climbers is in Boulder Canyon just outside of Boulder, Colorado. There is a hidden place tucked just off of Boulder Canyon Rd. that is a safe and beautiful place to sit back on Boulder Creek and watch the brave rock climbers. Maybe even do some fishing or picnicking. Go early to be assured parking. Coordinates: 39.979139, -105.455939

In 1966, the Hungarian Freedom Park was renamed to commemorate the 1956 revolt of Hungarians against Soviet oppression. Two years later a memorial was erected. The memorial depicts a boy attempting to break through an iron curtain. In 1986, the Hungarian Freedom Park was listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing feature of the Denver Park and Parkway System.

Hidden in the forest on the edge of a high mountain alpine lake you will find a hidden ghost resort maintained by the USFS. This hike, high in the Rocky Mountains on Twin Lakes just outside of Leadville, Colorado is the only land access to a resort called Interlaken. The Interlaken Ghost Resort, is located on the south side of Twin Lakes and was considered one of Colorado’s most beautiful resorts in the late 1800’s. But for nearly a century, the abandoned resort’s buildings were left to crumble and its access road was cut off by a rising lake. Leaving it alone and only accessible by trail or boat. So come along with us as we hike along a stunning alpine lake to the Interlaken Ghost Resort just outside of Leadville, Colorado.
