Colorado is a state full of surprises. From its towering mountains to its expansive plains, the state offers a variety of landscapes to explore. Colorado is definitely a great destination for outdoor activities year-round. In the winter, visitors can enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains, and in the summer, they can bike, hike, and camp in the state's many parks and forests.

On this episode of Fishing with Lance we head up to the high country to fish for Brook Trout in a lake that has barely thawed from the depths of winter. Plus a catch and cook shore lunch of shells, cheese, and of course fresh wild Rocky Mountain Brook Trout!

Our very first trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Southern Colorado. We were able to boondock outside of the park for free. We rented a board from the campground down the road and we explored the park. Our first stop was the Visitor Center for the Junior Ranger Program. We then packed up and started our hike to the top. We didn't get far because it started snowing on us and quickly had to head back down. Once the sand is wet it is virtually impossible to slide down the wet sand. This should be on everyone's list of places to visit.

State Parks Boyd Lake State Park in Loveland, CO is a State Park not far from where we launched over a year ago. It is $36 per night for electricity. Online there is a map of the campground so you can park next to the water spout and when we are ready to leave you can hit up the dump station. With several playgrounds, the kids don't get bored when we are here. Check out the swim beach, if you have a boat hit the water and have some fun. You are still in town so gas station, restaurants and groceries are near by.
