In a bid to enhance safety and security within Cleburne County schools, the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office has recently made significant additions to its police force. At the beginning of 2023, three school resource officers (SROs) and three Ford Explorers were introduced, serving as a proactive measure to protect students and maintain law and order. A forest fire was reported Sunday afternoon near Cleburne County Road 414 and County Road 114. After speaking to Heflin Fire Chief Adams, he advised there was no immediate threat to homes at this time and the Forestry Service was beginning to cut firebreaks to prevent it spreading.
