Clay County Emergency Management issued an alert Thursday afternoon asking drivers not to travel down flooded roadways. “It's not safe because you don't know what's underneath or how deep it is, and further, there are several homes that are flooding, and driving down those roads creates wakes that cause further damage,” county officials said in a Facebook post.

Tropical Storm Nicole: Clay County makes sandbags available to residents
Sandbags will be available to Clay County residents starting Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the county’s Emergency Management officials. “We will continue to offer bags until they’re gone or if it becomes unsafe for our employees to be in the conditions. The county will refill the sites with sand as needed,” the officials said.
Tropical storm conditions in Clay County from Subtropical Storm Nicole possible this week
Subtropical Storm Nicole could bring tropical storm conditions to Clay County later this week. Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency on Monday for 34 Florida counties, including Clay County, in the potential path of Nicole. Other Northeast Florida counties in the executive order are Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns.

Rainy weather is in the forecast for high school football games in Clay County on Friday night. The National Weather Service forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 10 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. The low is predicted to be around 73 degrees.
