Joanna and I took another trip on the Salamonie River from Pennville, to Montpellier Indiana.

Another section of river. This time Joanna and I put our canoe in near Albany, and paddled to the town of Matthews, to an “official” takeout place.

On any day, going down a River in a canoe is what seems like a day of total solitude. Usually all you can see is the riverbank and trees. Sometimes you can hear activity from houses near the rivers edge, but not very often can you see them. Something about the falling snow and the conditions of this day made it even more quiet than usual.
