Terminally Ill Cancer Patient Witnesses Experimental Immunotherapy Vaccine 'Melt Away' Cancer During Vaccine Trial
Three people diagnosed with terminally ill forms of cancer have seen their cancer go into remission after participating in a promising experimental vaccine trial at Mount Sinai's Vaccine and Cell Therapy Laboratory in New York. The vaccine uses immunotherapy to train the body's own immune system to target and destroy tumors.
Positive News: Texas Woman and Cancer Survivor Was Diagnosed, Treated, and Cured of Lung Cancer on the Same Visit
A 61-year-old Texas woman went into a follow-up for a routine yearly CT scan when doctors found a tumor that was early-stage lung cancer and chose to act quickly. One very fortunate grandmother went to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital for a follow-up test to a routine annual CT scan, after noticing that she was getting out of breath unusually quickly. Despite thinking it was just old age, it was really due to the cancerous tumor in her lungs.
Local Salon Owner and Cancer Survivor Gives Back to the Community
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, what better time to give back to the community on O'ahu. Hair Creations Owner Glorey MacCaleb is a 10-year cancer survivor and gave away 10 free haircut packages to other cancer survivors at her salon. Glorey also teamed up with local businesses like the Orchid Lei Company and 3 Star Restaurant to celebrate this event with donated leis and bentos for the clients at the salon.
