Update: No foul play suspected in Orange Park drowning; investigation ongoing
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 5-year-old girl drowned in a home pool Tuesday evening near the 200 block of Hilltop Drive in Orange Park. No foul play is suspected at this time and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to a Wednesday afternoon press release.
Motorcyclist collides with truck in Keystone Heights, suffers serious injuries
A Keystone Heights motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after colliding with a pickup truck pulling a boat trailer Thursday night. At approximately 8:55 p.m. Thursday, the motorcyclist, 29, was traveling east on County Road 214 attempting to pass stopped traffic, according to the Florida Highway Patrol crash report.
Clay County launches new nonprofit to assist law enforcement, first responders with financial burdens
A new nonprofit is launching in Clay County that will put money in the hands of first responders who are dealing with their own emergencies and may not have immediate funding. The Clay County Singal 35 Fund is a privately funded safety initiative named after the county’s radio call code for “officer needs assistance,” Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller Public Information Officer Mary Justino said.

A shed fire at Tucker’s Farmhouse in Green Cove Springs occurred Sunday evening. Nobody was injured and future weddings held at the venue will not be impacted. Clay County first responders, veterans raise more than $5,000 for local boy battling leukemia
More than $5,000 was raised during a Dec. 18 chili cook-off fundraiser for a local Orange Park boy battling leukemia. Clay County first responders and veterans teamed up to help raise money for parents Amber Lang and Zach Taylor whose son, Shane, was diagnosed with leukemia in June of 2019. The fundraiser was held at Whitey’s Fish Camp where guests purchased a ticket at the door to taste and vote on their favorite of 22 batches of chili.
