Finishing Our Bus Conversion While Traveling and Living in it is a Challenging Process!
We are in Pensacola, FL and while we are here visiting family we thought it would be a good idea to finish up some of the items that still need to be done on our bus conversion.
After Converting a Bus in Orlando, FL it’s Time to Hit the Road to See What Adventures Await Us!
Hooking up the electrical system on our new bus conversion is the last thing that has to be done before we can leave Orlando, FL. We are super excited to get on the road and see what adventures await us!
Our Bus Conversion is Nearly Done! We are close to being able to Hit the Road for Family Adventures!
Orlando Florida is hot almost always but especially in the summer time. Today we are finishing up some things on the us so that we can leave Orlando, hit the road and start enjoying road life again. One told the last projects to tackle is plumbing.
This has Been Home for our Family for Many Years. Today we say Goodbye!
We have to finish up a few things on the old bus before saying a final farewell and passing it on to the new owners. This was our home for the last 7 years. It’s hard to say goodbye.
They Built a Large, Beautiful, Custom Table for Their Bus Conversion That Seats Their Family of 10!
Today, we are building our dining table and drawers. The dining table is very special to our family. We know that there will be many We Cleverly Built a Large, Beautiful, Custom Table for our Bus Conversion That Seats our Family of 10! made around this table, playing games sharing meals and good fellowship are just a few. Shane wants the table to be the centerpiece of the bus conversion. Cleverly he has designed the table to stow, the leaf to swing down and out of the way and to swing back in place when needed for meals. The table is made out of birch plywood and trimmed with solid oak strips. The whole family is impressed with dad’s creativity.
This LED Lighting we Installed Under our Cabinets in our Bus Conversion Turned out Great!
We installed LED lighting along the toe kick of our cabinets today. It was so easy and looks great! The lights come in a large roll that you can cut to size with scissors, clip in a wire harness, peel the paper off that covers that adhesive, stick it in place and then wire crimp the pre-ran wires together. Our youngest son, Seth introduces all his Thomas and Friends trains while Shane is working. We hope you enjoyed Seth’s sweet camera time.
Choosing this Cute, Modern Gas Stove for our Bus Project was an Easy Choice for our Cooking Needs!
With our baby due to be delivered, we are racing to finish our bus conversion. Today, we installed beautiful white quartz countertops and a modern drop in gas range. The range is small and perfect for the space but functional to suit our families cooking and baking needs.
The Bamboo Flooring and Quartz Countertops they Installed in This Custom Bus Turned out Beautiful!
Doing work in a small space can be difficult. In this video we install real bamboo flooring in our bus conversion and we are really happy with the results. We also installed one of our quartz kitchen countertops. This custom bus conversion is coming together beautifully!
Our Baby is Due in just 1 Week so we are Working Hard to Finish our Bus Conversion in Time!
Our Varnish is done on the inside of our bus conversion. Today we are getting our roof vents installed. These vents have built in fans and will bring ventilation into the bus and also allow extra light in. We are also doing some demolition. Lastly, the children give an update as to where the bus conversion project currently sits.
Installing the Gas Lines for Our Bus Conversion was a Task for the Whole Family!
Our bus conversion project is coming along. It is amazing to see it really starting to take shape as we get closer to its completion. The gas lines are an important part of this project as they will service our gas range, propane heater, fridge and water heater. There is also an extra line for a gas barbecue that we could add later.
As we Searched to Find Water to Fill Our Bus Tanks we were led, Unexpectedly, to New Friends too!
We were in the middle of showering the children when we ran out of fresh water in our bus’ holding tanks. Oh no! Fortunately we had a few gallons of drinking water that enabled us to finish showering. Now, we were in desperate search for a water faucet to fill our tanks. Usually finding a place to fill our water isn’t too difficult but presently it’s too cold in Nebraska to find a working faucet. In late fall, this part of the country blows the waterlines out that are exposed to the elements, to prevent them from freezing and breaking. Finally, our search came to an end when we found water unexpectedly at a TA Travel Stop. They had a large bay meant for working on large trucks and we were able to pull our bus in. There, indoors was a working water faucet. The mechanics had no customers and were happy to assist us. We enjoyed friendly jokes and laughter as we filled our tanks. We were so thankful for the water and happy to have made new friends.
Chores and HomeSchooling are a Fun Part of Living a Full Time Life on the Road!
Dad set out to the grocery store early this morning in search for some distilled water. He needs the water to do chores on the bus conversion. The children help dad find the items on his shopping list. Fresh baked sourdough bread, check, trash bag, check, half and half, check. Now the list is complete! Breakfast is being prepared this morning by Isaiah, the eldest son. Yummy fried eggs and toast sure smell good and taste delicious too. Now that breakfast is finished, we have school and chores to complete. Today, Arwen and Ashton have a 50 word spelling test. Dad is using the distilled water to top off the water in the batteries that are mounted underneath the bus. We hurry to get our schooling and chores done and now it’s time for play. Off to the park for some great fun!
Everyday is an Adventure for this Family of 9 Living Full Time in a Custom Converted School Bus!
After faring an extreme blizzard and being snowed in for several days, we decide to venture into town to run errands in our bus conversion. Emptying sewer tanks at Pikes Peak Tavel Land is a dirty job and a weekly chore. Picking up our new upholstered bench seat from, Timberline Foam and Upholstery is on our todo list today. After the long day, family life is sweet as the children prepare for bed and say their “good nights” to Mom and Dad.
This Family Pays for Their Life on the Road by Picking up Odd Jobs Along The Way!
Many people have wondered how we can afford to travel full time. Are we independently wealthy? Did we come into a large inheritance? Do we rely on government assistance? Do we own a tree that grows money? The answer is “no” to all of those questions. We earn a living by good old fashion work. We pick up jobs along the way and that helps us fund everything we do. This video was filmed in Connecticut.
Swimming in the Chilly Waters of Lake Superior was Well Worth the Discomfort. Our Family Loved It!
When we were traveled through Canada we found ourselves driving along the coastline of Lake Superior. Lake Superior is the largest of the Great Lakes. It was so beautiful that we just had to stop to take in the scenery. It didn’t take long before we were all getting our feet wet. ► FOLLOW us on INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/thebuslifeshow ► FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/goodnewsbus
Spray Foam and Cutting the Window Openings Out in Our Bus Conversion is What is on the Agenda Next!
In a previous video we had put a single layer of spray foam on the walls and ceiling. We decided that a second pass of spray foam, bringing our R value up to 14 would be ideal. So, Shane and Ashton took on the job this very hot day in Orlando. Next, we cut out our window openings. Shane, thought it would be best to cut out the window openings prior to the custom paint. He doesn’t want to take any chances in messing up the paint after it’s applied. The whole family is excited as the day comes nearer when we will paint our bus Conversion.
