Cracker Barrel Loses Customers: What's Happening?
Cracker Barrel is facing the challenge of losing customers in two consecutive quarters, prompting the country-themed chain to launch an initiative to attract people back to its brand. The drop in guest traffic levels during the third quarter is attributed to guests cutting back on eating out due to inflation and higher prices in the overall restaurant industry. Despite hoping for an increase in guests during the summer travel season, the chain experienced lower traffic levels in the fourth quarter as well. The reasons behind this decline include the challenging consumer environment, the need for improvement in the guest experience, and less effective marketing efforts. Although Cracker Barrel raised its prices during the quarter, they do not believe this directly contributed to the traffic issues. However, they suspect that price increases in the entire restaurant industry may be impacting dining behaviors cumulatively.

New Pizza Shop Has Opened
Portable food vendors, such as stands and food trucks, have had a trying time of late around greater Tucson. From trying to cope with the incredible summer heat (there’s only so much vehicle-installed cooling systems can do) to being pushed around like cattle out of truck parks, it isn’t always the easiest way to make a living. That is unless there’s a physical property that is open and willing to accept such a food venture. One of the best landing spots for food trucks is by partnering with local breweries that may not have food on the menu. The two can work hand-in-hand by complimenting the other. This just happened to give one local brewery owner an idea.
