A Bee ~A Sunflower and Lots of Pollen
One of my favorite things in the yard to watch is the bees. They seem to get so much joy from covering themselves in the golden nectar of pollen. They are pleased to get so heavy with it that they can barely fly. I could be just about anywhere, and if I hear that familiar happy humming, I have to stop to see what they are collecting from today. I hope this puts a smile on your face today.

Bee Collecting Pollen - So Beautiful!
The most important thing that bees do is pollinate. Pollination is needed for plants to reproduce, and so many plants depend on bees or other insects as pollinators. When a bee collects nectar and pollen from the flower of a plant, some pollen from the stamens sticks to the hairs of her body. When she visits the next flower, some of this pollen is rubbed off onto the stigma, or tip of the pistil. When this happens, fertilization is possible, and a fruit, carrying seeds, can develop. Bee Collecting Pollen | Pollen Pants On Bee | Nasturtium Getting Pollinated
The bees love my nasturtiums, and I am so glad I started growing them last year on the advice of a gardener. To get more pollinators in my garden, I made it my goal to plant more flowers. The butterflies and hummingbirds love these flowers too. This little bee was so cute with his pollen pants from collecting that yummy nectar. I hope he takes it back and makes the best honey he can from my flowers.
