Tiny Maine Town Takes Center Stage in Cruise Ship Lawsuit

BAR HARBOR, Maine — A legal confrontation that could set a precedent for small coastal towns across America is set to unfold on June 7th. The final pretrial conference of a lawsuit filed by the Association to Preserve and Protect Local Livelihoods (APPLL) against the town of Bar Harbor will go before U.S. Magistrate Judge Karen Frink Wolf, marking the onset of the bench trial.

Bar Harbor's Future Depends on Your Ideas: Join the Workshops!

BAR HARBOR, MAINE - Later this month, the Comprehensive Planning Committee is hosting a series of visionary workshops to encourage community involvement in shaping the town's future. These workshops, taking place on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24, will provide an open platform for residents to discuss the draft vision statement for the comprehensive plan, future land use patterns, and draft maps.

Bar Harbor Passes Citizens Initiative Limiting the Number of Cruise Ship Passengers Allowed On Shore

Bar Harbor is a popular tourist destination as well as a cruise ship destination. The town currently limits the number of cruise ship passengers allowed per day to 3,500 in July and August and no more than 5,500 in May, June, September, and October.
