Joy Womack & Adrian Blake Mitchell Give Back to Westside Ballet After Leaving Russia Amid War in Ukraine

Dancers Joy Womack and Adrian Blake Mitchell are coming home to Westside Ballet, having trained at the famed Santa Monica, California school years ago, but their path back to the United States is an unexpected one. Both artists found themselves having to leave their homes in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. Womack left behind her job at Astrakhan Opéra and Ballet while Mitchell departed from his job at Mikhailovsky Ballet Company in St. Petersburg. The move leaves them both with heavy hearts as they loved the rich arts community of Russia, but they condemn the wartime actions of the country's leader.
Chicago Dance Lovers Impacted by War in Ukraine as Russia's Eifman Ballet Cancels Performances
The Eifman Ballet canceles May performances in Chicago, citing. "COVID-19 restrictions for international travel and the current geopolitical climate" With the pandemic seeming to be winding down or at least under control, many establishments have been reopened and some activites are being held for the first time in two years or more. Theater goers in Chicago have been particularly excited as the cities theaters and local and visiting performance groups have started scheduling upcoming shows.
Author Nancy Paris Dances Her Way Into 'The Adventures of Lilly Nilly'

As a professional dancer and educator, Paris is using her performing arts experience to give a voice to Lilly Nilly that's empowering and humorous all at once — and it's not just for kids, the adults will love her sharp wit. Pardon My French – It’s the Language of Ballet utilizes gorgeous illustrations and a fresh kid perspective for anyone who loves the language of dance.

Free Ballet Performance Coming to Railroad Park
Family-Friendly Performance Features Community and Professional Dancers. The newly-formed Magic City Performing Arts (MCPA) will host Ballet in the Park on April 9, 2022 at Railroad Park. The performance will begin at 4:00 PM and last about an hour. Ballet in the Park attendees can make it a double-header and go to the Baron’s game after the show. This is the organization’s inaugural spring show.

BYU's Theatre Ballet Program Will Be Holding Shows On Campus
Ballet Dancers(Image is author's) Hundreds of college students are enrolled in the various dance programs at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. These talented young people regularly put on shows during the school year. There is a wide variety of dance types including ballet, ballroom, contemporary, and cultural dances. Some of the special groups are various ballet groups such as Theatre Ballet and Ballet Showcase as well as International Folk Dance Ensemble, Living Legends which are Native American dancers, Ballroom Dance Ensemble, and Young Ambassadors.

The 32-year-old former athlete and 2008 all-around champion is known for dressing it up for her 1.1 million followers - in this particular photo, Nastia went for a "Black Swan" finish as she donned a jet-black tutu and matching pointe shoes for a themed shoot.
