ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Asheville city council's 2022-2023 operating budget proposes keeping the property tax at $0.403 per $100 per assessed valuation. That's one item of good news for the proposed upcoming budget that was presented on May 24.

A Bear Walked Through A City In North Carolina
Locals recently captured a video of a bear strolling through downtown Asheville, North Carolina. According to police reports, this is the third time in recent weeks that officers have assisted in the removal of bears from the downtown area.
A drive through moonshine territory
Moonshining became big business after 1908 when North Carolina -- a decade ahead of the nation as a whole -- adopted statewide prohibition, closing all legal distilleries. Reformers kept predicting that the obnoxious practice would fade away, thanks to education and a few more arrests. Stills grew, however, and some moonshiners became major entrepreneurs. Percy Flowers, a general store owner with a seventh-grade education, operated stills from outside Raleigh south to Brunswick County. Rarely caught and seldom convicted, he was regarded as a kingmaker in Tar Heel politics.

Van Gogh Alive at The Biltmore
We spent the day exploring the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. We came for the Van Gogh Alive immersive experience, but first we got to tour the property – including the gardens and greenhouse – and take an audio tour of "America’s Largest Home." If you’re looking for things to do and see in Asheville, The Biltmore is an experience you won’t soon forget. And if you can go while the Van Gogh exhibit is still on site, it's a wonderful way to spend a full day!
