The Clay County Fair began Thursday, March 30 and Clay County school district schools get Friday (March 31) off from school to attend different shows as part of the district’s partnership with the fair.
The Friday student show schedule is as follows:
10 a.m. Goat Grooming
11 a.m. STEM Contest
6 p.m. Dairy Show
Students can also participate in a variety of different shows throughout the fair’s 11-day span, Clay County District Schools Communications Coordinator Terri Dennis said. “A personal favorite is the Unlimited Opportunities Goat Show where our Future Farmers of America (FFA) members work with exceptional student education (ESE) students to put on a goat show just for students with special needs.”
The Unlimited Opportunities Goat Show will be Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. at the Clay County Fairgrounds (2493 State Road 16 W, Green Cove Springs).
The school district will also have a tent at the front entrance of the fair on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where students can visit and spin a prize wheel for some Clay County District School “swag,” Dennis said.
Additionally, Clay County students have Friday, April 7 off from school in observance of the Good Friday holiday.
The fair will still be operating and the schedule for April 7 is as follows:
9 a.m. Livestock judging
10 a.m. Tailgating
7 p.m. Livestock Auction
