A female victim was assaulted Saturday by a woman whom she filed a restraining order against, deputies said. The restraining order had not yet been issued.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched around 11:04 p.m. Saturday to a crash in Orange Park, but upon their arrival, the location of the two vehicles had changed and dispatch said they were heading east on Loch Rane Boulevard. It was also noted the two vehicles had caused the initial crash and security patrol vehicles from a nearby gated neighborhood were attempting to catch up to them, deputies said.
The victim told deputies that Jasmine Pearson, 23, of Green Cove Springs, had hit her multiple times, then rammed her car into the victim’s as she was trying to drive away. It was also noted that Pearson lit grass on fire outside of the victim’s residence, causing damage to the property, deputies said.
While still following the two vehicles, deputies saw Pearson make a U-turn in an attempt to maneuver past the security vehicles, the arrest report said. Deputies confronted Pearson and asked her to step out of the vehicle.
Pearson immediately began resisting deputies by kicking and slapping their faces, the arrest report said. Deputies had to put Pearson on the ground in order to place her in handcuffs, they said. She kicked one deputy in the face and chest before getting secured in the marked patrol vehicle, the arrest report said.
While speaking to the female victim, deputies learned that Pearson had threatened her on multiple other occasions. It was also noted the victim has an injunction (restraining order) on the defendant, but it had not been served. Pearson also had two warrants out of Clay County for a previous incident involving the same victim.
The victim completed a sworn written statement and no injuries were reported.
Pearson was transported to Clay County Jail and her bond is set at $102,512.
