A 25-year-old man turned himself in to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Friday and now faces 10 charges of possession of photographs or videos of sexual performance by a child, deputies say.
Travon Rashaud Gilbert, 25, of Jacksonville, went to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Substation (212 Blanding Blvd.) Friday at approximately 10:45 a.m. in reference to a possible warrant. A National Crime Information Center search revealed an active warrant out of Clay County for 10 counts of possession of photographs of sexual performance by a child, the arrest report said.
According to the warrant, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEN) from an IP address belonging to Gilbert. At the time, Gilbert was living in an apartment in the 1500 block of Blanding Boulevard in Middleburg with his mother, deputies said.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies received warrants from Gilbert’s AT&T internet and T-Mobile phone plan which revealed more information and downloaded child sexual exploitation content, the arrest warrant said.
On Oct. 12, 2022, deputies were granted a federal search warrant for Gilbert’s property in Middleburg. The warrant was executed the following day (Oct. 13) and deputies seized a computer, cell phone and console that had child sexual abuse material downloaded to them, deputies said.
It is also noted that law enforcement working on this investigation knew from experience and previous investigations that several of the images on Gilbert’s devices are identified child victims, or have been seen previously in child sexual abuse investigations, the arrest warrant said.
According to Florida Statute 775, someone who possesses 10 or more images of child pornography and one of those files is a child who is younger than the age of 5, sadomasochistic abuse involving a child, sexual battery involving a child, sexual beastiality involving a child or any movie involving a child, regardless of length and regardless of whether the movie contains sound, the charges are enhanced to a second-degree felony.
The arrest warrant does not state the specific type(s) of photos or videos that were discovered on Gilbert’s devices.
Gilbert was arrested and transported to Clay County Jail and his bond is set at $500,030.
