An Orange Park man was arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief, deputies say.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Stay Suites of America in reference to a family neighborhood call for service on Saturday, March 18. Upon arrival, they made contact with a victim and witness who said a man, later identified as Timothy Brown, 42, of Orange Park, had threatened to stab the victim.
According to the arrest report, Brown did commit the assault with a knife and brass knuckles. He also struck a glass window with brass knuckles causing it to shatter into pieces, deputies said.
The female victim told deputies that Brown had come to the Stay Suites of America and got defensive and aggressive with her. She said he pulled out a pair of brass knuckles and she was in fear for her life, according to the arrest report. She told Brown to leave and he began threatening to stab her.
Several of Brown’s statements have been removed from the arrest report, so it is unclear what caused his aggression.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office cites Florida Statute 119 as their reason for removing Brown’s statements.
“Under Florida State Statute 119.071, confessions and admissions of guilt are exempt from public records disclosure and should not be released until such time as the case is finally determined by adjudication, dismissal, or other final disposition. Such statements shall be redacted from any reports requested pursuant to FSS Chapter 119,” a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The victim said she managed to push Brown out and closed and locked the door. At this point, Brown left in an unknown direction and was said to have a shaved head, black goatee and was wearing a blue “Rowe’s Supermarket” shirt and green and white pajama pants.
More sheriff’s office deputies arrived with K-9 units and, while gathering information, Stay Suites of America security told deputies that there were individuals in room 318 who were not supposed to be there, the arrest report said.
Security then made contact with the group in room 318 and, during this time, a man fled down the stairs, jumped off the second-floor balcony, jumped over the fence and fled from law enforcement. “This was possibly the defendant from the current call,” the arrest report said. “The male individual was able to elude law enforcement.”
On Sunday, March 19, at approximately 7:09 p.m. Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Brown’s place of work (Rowe’s Supermarket) and found Brown, who matched the description given by the victim of the man who threatened to stab her.
Deputies read Brown his Miranda Rights and asked to speak with him, to which he agreed.
Brown’s conversation with deputies has been removed from the arrest report for the same reasons mentioned above (Florida Statute 119).
It is noted that Brown had a small abrasion on his right pinky knuckle, which was consistent with the incident described by the female victim, the arrest report said.
Brown was placed in handcuffs and taken to Clay County Jail and his bond is set at $10,002.
