Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook went live Thursday from inside the Clay County detention facility to announce a “heinous” fugitive the sheriff’s department needs the community’s help with finding.
“I know we usually do our fugitive announcements on Friday,” Cook said. “But when I was reviewing the outstanding fugitives that we have in Clay County, I came across this guy. He’s a bad guy and we really need him in jail.”
Cook challenged the county residents to help her get the fugitive in jail by Friday.
Wesley Ryan Wager, 20, of Green Cove Springs, turned himself in Thursday evening at approximately 5 p.m.
He faces charges for two counts of obscene communication transmitting child pornography, two counts of possession of obscene material depicting a child and the unlawful use of a two-way communications device to transmit the obscene photos, she said.
“He has committed such heinous crimes that we couldn’t wait until Friday,” Cook wrote in a Facebook post. “Let’s work together to get this criminal off our streets.”
The Sheriff’s Office detectives began investigating Wager’s case around Oct. 26 and Oct. 29, 2021, Clay County Sheriff Multimedia Coordinator Sarah Padgett said.
Wager is in Clay County Jail and his bond is set at $250,015.
