Clay County residents who adopted a pet from Clay County Animal Services have the opportunity to win a shopping spree from PetCo and BOBS shoe brand from Sketchers.

Since 2013, Petco has been celebrating pet adoptions through “Petco Love Stories,” an opportunity for parents of adopted pets to share their adoption stories for a chance to win money and be featured on the PetCo website.

More than 20,000 adopters have shared how pets have changed their lives, since the launch of this project in 2013. Petco Love has awarded nearly $7 million in grants to the animal welfare organizations, such as Clay County Animal Services, that make adoption matches possible.

If a submission from Clay County wins, the animal shelter could win up to $100,000 toward shelter and animal needs, Clay County Public Information Officer Laura Christmas said.

Participants must be 18-years-old or older; “love stories” must be 500 words or less, participants can submit up to four images and the adopted pet must still be alive in order to participate.

To enter, craft a story, gather images and send it to to be entered.
