Four suspects were arrested after shoplifting 22 items from Dillard’s in Orange Park Mall on Wednesday.
At approximately 1:05 p.m., deputies were called from Orange Park Mall, 1910 Wells Road, to respond to Dillard’s department store in reference to a shoplifting in progress.
The four suspects, Leroy Nesmith Jr., 32, Asia Harris, 29, Ashley Thompson, 32 and Adrian Lang, 28, had gotten in their vehicle in an attempt to flee law enforcement, the arrest report said.
A traffic stop was attempted, however, Harris, the driver, failed to yield to the patrol vehicle and fled toward the mall. Lang fled the vehicle on foot and the merchandise from Dillard’s that had been sitting on his lap was thrown to the ground in the parking lot, according to the arrest report.
The merchandise was identified and recovered. The stolen merchandise consisted of 22 items, totaling $1,734.
Harris was taken into custody without incident. Thompson, Nesmith and Lang were each taken into custody in different locations in the mall parking lot and identified by the complainant as the four subjects inside Dillard’s whom she saw shoplifting.
They were transported to the Clay County Jail and are each charged with grand theft over $750, a level three felony. Lang carries an additional charge of eluding a law enforcement officer with lights and sirens active, a level three felony.
Lang’s bond is set at $25,003.
Harris’ bond is set at 10,003.
Thompson’s bond is set at $5,003.
Nesmith’s bond is set at $15,003.
