In a tragic incident that occurred in Folly Beach, South Carolina, 34-year-old new bride, Samantha Miller was killed just a few hours after her wedding. She had left her wedding reception in a golf cart along with her husband and friends when the accident happened.
According to reports, data retrieved from the rental car that the drunk driver was driving showed that she was driving twice over the speed limit at the time: "A woman identified by police as Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was accused of slamming into the back of the golf cart while allegedly driving while drunk and over twice the speed limit, according to an incident report."
While Miller was killed in the wreck, her husband and two others suffered injuries. The drunk driver was uninjured in the crash. In an interview, Samantha Miller's mother, Lisa Miller alleged that Komoroski: "Chose to drink, get behind the wheel, and plow down my daughter. This is a conscious choice that a young lady made."
Komoroski who claimed to have had two drinks prior to the crash was charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm.
A vigil was held at Folly Beach over the weekend which was attended by over a hundred people. Miller's husband, Aric Hutchinson who was in a wheelchair recuperating from the injuries sustained in the deadly crash said his wife would have been pleased as this excerpt explains: "This is Sam. I mean, she's a beach girl, through and through. We do walk here almost every morning, and this is her send-off for sure. She's up there smiling for sure."
A GoFundMe page that was set up to help with medical and funeral expenses has so far raised $720,000.
