Some people would do literally anything to rack up their online views including parachuting out of a plane before purposefully crashing it. Just like in the bizarre case of YouTube personality and former Olympic snowboarder Trevor Jacob who took a video of his extreme action and uploaded it which in turn sparked a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigation.

According to reports, the video shows Jacob parachuting out of his small Taylorcraft plane when it started experiencing engine failure over Los Padres National Forest and crashed into a mountainside near New Cuyama: "The video, which was uploaded on December 23 and has drawn more than 370,000 views, documents Jacob’s escape from the stalled plane from multiple camera angles, including a handheld selfie stick. But viewers and aviation experts have grown suspicious of his decision to abandon the aircraft mid-flight, and some have publicly wondered if the entire incident was staged."

The incident occurred while he was en route from Lompoc City Airport in Santa Barbara County to Mammoth Lakes. The plan had never been to land at the airport but instead to eject midflight while filming the plane crashing.

Jacob later admitted to crashing the plane in order to obtain views. He also agreed to plead guilty to federal charges for getting rid of the wreckage of his plane as this excerpt explains: "Trevor Daniel Jacob admitted to authorities he planned to crash his plane in a video he made to promote a wallet. He later collected the aircraft’s wreckage and got rid of it to hinder federal investigators from probing the crash site, according to a news release from the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California."
