Little Jyedon Pollard was savagely mauled outside the motel where he, his mom, and two sisters were staying in Cowra, Central West New South Wales, Australia. Even though he was rushed to the hospital, he later succumbed to injuries sustained on his face and neck.

The family of four had been living in the motel while awaiting permanent accommodation.

According to reports, it is still unclear how Jyedon managed to get into the enclosure where the dogs were housed: "Motel owner Matt McIIIhatton reportedly dragged Jyedon free from the dogs and administered first aid. He then took the young child to Cowra Hospital alongside Jyedon's mother. Chifley police superintendent Bob Noble told the media there were no direct witnesses to the horrific attack, which unfolded at the rear of the motel."

Police and emergency services responded to a call from the motel about a child suffering serious injuries. By the time they arrived, McIIIhatton had already administered first aid to little Jyedon and taken him to the hospital. From there, the little boy was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in Sydney for further treatment, however, he did not survive.

An investigation by the police shed some light on how the events unfolded on that fateful day in 2022: "I saw the kids screaming, I looked out the window across the road and I saw some guy carrying a little kid who was absolutely screaming and people were panicked."

Investigation revealed that the two dogs involved in the attack were a rottweiler and a cattle dog. They were seized by authorities and euthanized following the tragedy.
