30-year-old Rehmat Ali Shaukat Ali Ansari was arrested in Mumbai, India for allegedly murdering his 2-year-old son, Mohammad Asad. Police revealed that he was on a call with his 21-year-old girlfriend Ajamatun Ansari while committing the terrible deed. The child's body was later discovered in the mangroves along the Mithi River.
The father of the two-year-old had been having an extramarital affair with Ajamatun for three years before she delivered the ultimatum that he either get rid of his wife and child or lose her forever. Rehmat chose to please his girlfriend as this excerpt explains: "The police said Rehmat and Ajamatun were involved in an extra-marital affair for the last three years. However, after her family members fixed her marriage on May 3 with some other person, she had given ultimatum to Rehmat and had given him two days to get rid of his wife and child, if he wants to marry her."
He lured his son outside the home with the promise of cheese balls and later strangulated him. He then wrapped the body in plastic wrap and disposed of it near the river. Per reports, Rehmat's girlfriend was later noticed at the crime scene where she had lingered in order to be able to update her boyfriend on the happenings and also to find out whether her name had come up in the investigation: "The woman visited the spot to find out if her name was being mentioned by police and people, and to possibly apprise the accused of the situation, said the police."
Rehmat was arrested for the alleged murder of his son and a short while later his girlfriend was also arrested for instigating the crime.
