Until recently, you could only make recreational marijuana purchases in-store in Massachusetts. Now, you can order Marijuana delivered to your homes. According to an article published in, 2 companies, Lantern and Your Green Package have launched home delivery services.

While Lantern, a sister company of Drizly, is serving the Boston area, Your Green Package services the western part of the state. According to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission, 11 companies have been given licenses for home deliveries so far and out of the 11, 3 are currently operating. As a result of the licensing process, there are now 2 kinds of marijuana companies, namely, "couriers" and "delivery operators." While the former delivers the product from the store, the latter purchases it from the manufacturers and then sells it to the consumers.

This is what Aaron Goines, president of the advocacy group Massachusetts Cannabis Association for Delivery had to say in an interview with “This license type is a major piece of the equation in making the Massachusetts cannabis industry more diverse, equitable and inclusive.”

A highlight of the delivery licenses is its initiative to encourage entrepreneurs of color in the marijuana industry. Here is an excerpt from the article published on that explains it further: "For the first three years, the delivery licenses are available exclusively to participants in the state’s programs meant to foster more entrepreneurs of color in the marijuana industry. State regulators have said more than 500 applicants are initially eligible."

The Daily Hampton Gazette reports that Your Green Package is a company that is majority-owned by women and people of color.
