A New England Soda company, Avery Beverages, is selling "Putin Punch" which is literally flying off the shelves. The company which is based in New Britain, Connecticut said that 50 cents from the sale of each bottle of soda will be donated to the Ukraine Red Cross.
Avery Beverages is well known for creating soda flavors around prominent events such as the 2020 elections and the Putin Punch is their latest product in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This is an excerpt from the soda from CT Insider: "The label, designed by a local artist, depicts Russian President Vladimir Putin getting punched in the face by a boxing glove adorned in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, as well as the hashtag #StandWithUkraine. The "Putin Punch" is fruit punch that is a little more tart than usual, Metz said; the soda was released March 1."
According to an article published by NBC Connecticut, this is a sweet concoction with the sole purpose of lessening a very bitter situation. Although the soda comes with a cartoon character label, the objective is very serious as owner Rob Metz explained to NBC Connecticut: “We can’t run over there and go fight anybody, but we make soda." In addition to contributing the proceeds from the sale of the soda to the Ukraine Red Cross, Metz has also made an initial $500 donation to show his support for Ukraine.
Those interested in purchasing Putin Punch soda can either do so directly from the store or place the order on the company website and have it shipped to them.
